However, keep in mind that if you check the internet box and you subscribe to a listserv that accepts mail whereby you auto-reply to it, it can create a reply loop between your account and listserv. If you need to auto-reply to internet mail AND you are subscribed to a listserv that accepts mail, contact the listserv to suspend mail until you return.

Q: How can I change the background picture of my client windows?
A: There are three sections of the FirstClass client that can be edited to add a background image.  They are the editor, the form, and the window.  The editor is the part of the window that can be edited by the user, such as the bottom part of a new message.  The form is the top part of a message that is preset by FirstClass.  This is where you type in the subject and recipient information.  The editor and form can be changed by using the preferences window from the Edit menu.  At the bottom of the Appearance tab, there's a check box for the editor and form and a drop box to choose your preferred image.  The third area that can be changed is the individual windows in your client, such as the window that holds your messages and folders.  This area can be changed by using the Change View Properties in the View menu.

In order to make these changes, you need images to use as the background.  First, create a folder named Images in your FirstClass directory.  PCs will find this directory at c:\Program Files\CSUB FirstClass
The CSUB FirstClass folder for the Macintosh will differ depending on where the user downloaded their copy of the client.  Inside of the Images folder, place any images that you would like to use.  Sample images can be found in the FirstClass conference folder.  Once these images are placed in the Images folder, you can edit the form and editor backgrounds through the Edit -> Preferences command or to change the background images of a folder, use the Change View Properties command from the View menu.

Note: These changes will only affect the client where the changes were made, locally.  The changes won't be transferred to your home computer's client unless the the same images reside in the home computer's Images folder.

Q:  What POP3 clients can be used with FirstClass?
A:  Any POP3 client that properly uses the standard POP3 protocol can be used.  Examples: Netscape Messenger, Internet Explorer, Claris Emailer, Outlook, Eudora, ect.

Q:  How do I configure my POP3 client to work with FirstClass?
