PC Download and Install Instructions

  1. Click on the Windows link above and save  FirstClass 8.0.exe to your Windows desktop. 
  2. BEFORE you run the installer, make sure the old FirstClass is not running (to check: right-click on the FirstClass icon in the system tray and select Exit).
  3. Double-click on the FirstClass 8.0.exe file on your Windows Desktop and follow the prompts (defaults OK).
  4. Important: Double-click on the new FirstClass icon on your Windows Desktop to open FirstClass. At the FirstClass login screen click the Setup button and type in the Server name as follows:  firstclass1.csub.edu
  5. Click Save (no other changes are needed). You can now log in using the User ID and password provided by CSUB.
Note: On some PCs the old FirstClass folder may not have been removed and should be deleted. The old CSUB FirstClass folder is located in C:\Program Files\CSUB FirstClass. If the old client is still installed on your computer, you can delete the CSUB FirstClass folder manually or use the Add/Remove Programs located in Control Panels. Remember to check the Download folder inside the old CSUB FirstClass folder to see if you need anything before deleting.  Deleting the old client can be done either before or after you install the new client.

Macintosh Download and Install Instructions for OS 9

  1. Click on the OS 9 link above and then click Continue (at the Aladdin Systems splash screen) and select the Desktop button. Stuffit Expander will "unstuff" the file. You will now have a CSUB FirstClass 8.0 folder on your desktop.
  2. Drag the CSUB FirstClass 8.0 folder to the desired location located on your hard drive (typically located in the Communications folder for CSUB Macs).
  3. Important: Double-click on the new FirstClass icon on your Mac OS Desktop to open FirstClass. At the FirstClass login screen click the Setup button and type in the Server name as follows:  firstclass1.csub.edu

Macintosh Download and Install Instructions for OS X

  1. Click on the OS X link above to download the FC8 client to your Desktop..
  2. Double-click on the Install FirstClass Client icon and follow the default instructions to install the client.
  3. Important: Double-click on the new FirstClass icon on your Macintosh Desktop to open FirstClass. At the FirstClass login screen click the Setup button and type in the Server name as follows:  firstclass1.csub.edu
  4. Click Save (no other changes are needed). You can now log in using the User ID and password provided by CSUB.

Note: Any old aliases on your desktop need to be thrown in the Trash and new ones created from the new FirstClass 8.0 application icon, if desired. Drag the old CSUB FirstClass folder to the Trash. Remember to check the Download folder inside the old CSUB FirstClass folder to see if you need anything before deleting. You can drag files out of the old Download folder or just move the entire Download folder into the new CSUB FirstClass 8.0 folder. The CSUB FirstClass 8.0.sea file is no longer needed and can be dropped in the Trash. Any old aliases on your desktop need to be thrown in the Trash and new ones created from the new FirstClass application icon, if desired.
